Start with an eligibility check.
Texas provides a limited exception for a licensed used automotive parts recycler (UAPR) to purchase a vehicle without a title. All three conditions must be met.
At least 13 years old
The vehicle must meet the minimum age requirement.
Unregistered for at least 7 years
A recently expired registration does not meet this requirement.

This exception is not a way to obtain a replacement title or return a vehicle to the road.

Meeting these conditions does not guarantee a purchase. Our team must review the vehicle's eligibility, your authority to sell it, and the required ownership, stolen-vehicle and lien checks and paperwork before confirming how to proceed.

This exception is subject to Texas Transportation Code §501.098 and 43 Texas Administrative Code §217.87, including the required recycler reporting process. Read the TxDMV guidance.
The no-title vehicle report

Can I sell a vehicle without a title?
Some vehicles may qualify under the limited Texas recycler exception: the vehicle must be at least 13 years old, have not been registered for at least 7 years, and be purchased solely for parts, dismantling or scrap. Review all three conditions and the next steps. Call staff before arranging pickup or bringing the vehicle in; eligibility and required records still need review.
What if the title is not in my name?
For a titled sale, the title must be in the seller's name. A title in someone else's name does not by itself establish your authority to sell the vehicle or qualify it for the no-title exception. Call our team to discuss the ownership documents before making arrangements.
How will I be paid?
We currently pay vehicle sellers in cash. Staff will confirm the offer, paperwork and handover arrangements directly with you.
