Work carefully.
Look out for each other.
A salvage yard has real hazards. Read these rules before visiting, follow posted signs and staff instructions, and ask when you're unsure.
Before entering
- Review and complete the required entry waiver and check in with staff.
- Wear appropriate eye protection and closed-toe footwear.
- Use only tools and equipment permitted by Grab-a-part.
- Minors may enter only as expressly permitted by the yard's written rules. Call ahead about age requirements.
While working in the yard
- Inspect vehicles and parts before approaching, removing or handling them.
- Be alert for sharp metal, broken glass, unstable vehicles, shifting parts, fluids, electrical systems and components under pressure.
- Never work beneath a vehicle unless it has been properly supported using equipment approved by Grab-a-part. Ask staff about the permitted procedure.
- Stay out of restricted areas.
- Do not operate forklifts, loaders, tow equipment or other machinery unless expressly authorized.
- Do not remove a part in a way that endangers people or property.
- No smoking, alcohol use or illegal-drug use on the premises.
If something looks unsafe
Stop and tell yard staff. Report unsafe conditions or injuries immediately. Follow staff instructions. Grab-a-part may refuse entry or require a customer to leave for failing to follow safety rules.
Your tools and belongings
